I learned how to make jam with my Mom. She used to make jams, pickles and sauerkraut with my Grandmother growing up. Taking advantage of the fruit and vegetable harvests in Southern Michigan.
Here in San Diego, she and I would go find a crate of local produce, and spend the day breaking it down and then slow cooking it into delicious fruit spreads.
I’ve developed more adventurous recipes since then, and have really enjoyed using the new tools available to make cooking and canning a more enjoyable process. The freshTECH appliances from Ball have changed my game! In fact, I’ve even taken them with me on road trips to visit family and make marmalade while there! My uncle wanted to make grapefruit marmalade, and he even took a nap while the jars were in the heat bath!
