Happy Valentine’s Day!

We don’t do much for Valentine’s Day. Usually it’s a nice dinner and some roses or chocolates. Technically mine, I share the chocolates! This year we celebrated a little late, with reverse-seared NY Strip steaks and some red wine.

A Mourvèdre and an estate Cabernet. Mourvèdre is one of my favorite reds, and harder to find than the standard blends. Usually a “red blend” is a GSM blend. Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre in varying percentages. Only in the past several years have labels been bottling 100% Mourvèdre for retail sale. If you like luscious reds, you should look for one and try it!
